Rotary clubs can apply to The Rotary Foundation for district and global grants to support scholarships. These grants can last from one to four years and may include a full degree program. The Foundation will provide an 80% contribution from the Global Fund to all district designated funds (DDF) contributions. If you're invited, take the opportunity to attend a club meeting.
It's a great way to share more about yourself and learn more about Rotary. The process of applying for the Rotary Global Grant consists of several stages, starting at the local level and ending at Rotary International. My experience applying in Northern Virginia was different from that of two friends who applied in Indiana and Washington, so it's important to get in touch with several clubs in your area and meet their members. In particular, the Rotary Club invites and encourages grant recipients to actively participate in advertising and participation in its annual “Taste for Giving” event, the main source of funding for Rotary's grant program.
The sponsoring club and district will work with you to complete the necessary forms on the Rotary International online application portal. Most clubs will be eager to sponsor a global Rotary scholarship, as it's a great opportunity for them to be part of your academic and professional career. The three Rotary clubs in the Charlottesville area have partnered to identify people who might be eligible to receive Rotary Global Grants supported by Rotary District 7610. The Rotary Global Grants are funded with funding from Rotary District 7610, supported by the Rotary Foundation International. The Rotary Club of Alexandria provides funding for specific programs and activities that strengthen core programs; provide initial funding for a new program, program element, or initiative; or support capital expenditures.
The three clubs, the Rotary clubs of Charlottesville, Blue Ridge Mountains and Albemarle County, will help scholarship applicants from the Charlottesville area to be considered by Rotary District 7610. Nearly 80 years later, Rotary Global Grants continue to be a key way in which Rotary clubs around the world support the organization's global mission of establishing relationships across national and cultural boundaries. Just as your sponsor club helped you get here, your host club will be there to support you as you adapt to your new environment, so take the opportunity to meet them and learn about their work.
