Rotary clubs are dedicated to providing service to their local communities and beyond. The Northern Virginia Rotary Club is no exception. This club has been actively involved in a variety of programs and activities that benefit local schools and students. The club has been involved in fighting adult illiteracy by working with local activists to provide community literacy programs.
Each spring, members of the club provide staff to organize shooting events at two field competitions sponsored by the Special Olympics in the Potomac Region of Virginia. The president of a university and a Rotary club have also joined forces to fight against Boko Haram, bringing education and food to refugees in Nigeria. Brian, a member of the Springfield Sunrise Rotary Club, has held various positions in the club, including president. It is a long-standing tradition for the acting district governor to visit every club in the district. Since its creation on February 23, 1980, the Rotary Club of Dulles International Airport and its members have been supporting people in need through charitable and community service activities.
The Arc of Northern Virginia is another organization that works with the Rotary Club to help protect the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Northern Virginia Rotary Club is committed to helping local schools and students succeed. Through their various programs and activities, they are making a positive impact on their community. By joining forces with other organizations, they are able to reach even more people in need.
